Authoring with Pressbooks
Pressbooks is a cloud-based text creation and publishing tool available to Indiana University students, faculty, and staff through the Unizin consortium.
Pressbooks enables authors to create and publish text in multiple formats suited for a variety of devices and reading styles, such as a website, a PDF file (for print or online), EPUB, MOBI (for eReaders, such as Kindle), and more. Pressbooks texts may be enhanced with video, audio, interactive assessments, collaborative annotation abilities, and much more.
Students, faculty, and staff can use Pressbooks to:
- Publish low- or no-cost eTexts for IU classes (a limited pilot in collaboration with IU Press)
- Create open educational resources (OER), or adopt existing OER
- Format instructor-created content for online distribution to students
- Assign or submit student writing projects
If you’d like to learn more about using open educational resources, see Open Educational Resources (OER) services at IU.
